The Chicago Cubs are currently looking for viable options in center field with the departure of veteran leadoff man Dexter Fowler.
MLB insider Bruce Levine is reporting that the Cubs are interested in Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon. He played 138 games in center field last season but also has experience in the corner outfield positions. The lefty lead-off hitter has two years left on his contract with the Rockies while making $3.5 million in 2016. He was impressive batting .324 with 35 doubles, five triples, 29 homers, and 82 RBIs this past season. He was fourth in the National League in batting average, third in runs (111), 9th in stolen bases (17), fifth in slugging (.552), and fifth in OPS (.933). For his career, he is a .298 hitter with 74 homers, 251 RBIs, and .348 on-base percentage.
