Cubs News: Kris Bryant exits game due to injury |
NEW YORK — Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant did not last long in Tuesday's game, as he was hit by a pitch in the first inning and pulled in the second inning. Bryant played defense in the bottom of the first but did not retake the field in the second frame, as Patrick Wisdom entered the gamee and took over for him at third.
In the top of the first, New York Mets starter Taijuan Walker beaned Bryant on the right hand with a pitch thrown toward the knob of Bryant's bat. Bryant remained in the game following the hit by pitch, but ESPN reporter Marly Rivera later revealed that a trainer noticed in the dugout that Bryant's right hand was red, leading to Bryant reluctantly leaving the game for further evaluation. #Cubs Patrick Wisdom takes over at 3B in the top of the 3rd. UPDATE: The Cubs announced that Bryant had been diagnosed with a right hand contusion and later revealed that his X-rays had come back negative.
