Cubs News: Kris Bryant leads all National League third basemen in All-Star voting |
CHICAGO — The first 2021 MLB All-Star Game voting update was released on Monday, and Kris Bryant leads the way for the Chicago Cubs as the top vote-getter out of all National League third basemen. Although Bryant has made the majority of his starts this season in the outfield, he is listed as a third baseman on the All-Star ballot.
Bryant is currently hitting .292 with 13 home runs and 39 RBIs and is essentially a shoo-in to get selected for his fourth All-Star Game in the coming weeks. Other Cubs in the running include shortstop Javier Baez, catcher Willson Contreras and first baseman Anthony Rizzo. As of Monday, Baez is second in the National League voting at his respective position, and Contreras and Rizzo are in third place at their respective positions. Nico Hoerner, who is currently on the injured list, is fourth among NL second baseman. Also, Joc Pederson, Jason Heyward and Ian Happ are 10th, 13th and 14th, respectively, among NL outfielders. This year's Midsummer Classic will take place at Coors Field in Denver on Tuesday, July 13. Ballots can be cast until Thursday, July 1, when the results will be revealed. The first All-Star ballot standings have been released!
