Cubs News: Kyle Schwarber surgery update |
Chicago Cubs left fielder Kyle Schwarber had successful left knee surgery in Dallas with the Dallas Cowboys orthopedic specialist on Tuesday according to multiple reports.
Dr. Daniel Cooper performed the surgery and he is one of the top orthopedic knee surgeons in the United States. The Cubs anticipate a full recovery for Schwarber and should have him healthy for the start of the 2017 baseball season. Schwarber will miss the remainder of the season due to full tears of his right ACL and LCL and a severely sprained ankle. The injury occurred during an outfield collision with center fielder Dexter Fowler in Arizona on April 7. Second-year outfielder Jorge Soler has been receiving most of the playing time since the left field absence of Schwarber. In 2015, Schwarber hit .246 with 16 home runs, 43 RBIs with an outstanding .842 OPS in only 69 games (273 at-bats) in his rookie season. #Cubs Schwarber had successful ACL reconstruction and LCL repair.
