Cubs News: Report: Richard released, Matusz clears waivers

Cubs pitcher Clayton Richard has been released and Brian Matusz has cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Triple-A Iowa according to the Cubs' transaction page.

Richard, 32, went 0-1 with one save and a 6.43 ERA (10 ER/14.0 IP) in 25 relief appearances with the Cubs this season.

Matusz allowed a disappointing six runs, six hits, two walks, a hit-by-pitch in three innings in his only start with the Cubs.
