Cubs News: Ross updates Dansby Swanson's injury rehab |
Chicago Cubs shortstop Swanson has been nursing a left heel injury and is currently eligible to come off the 10-day IL when he is fully healthy.
Cubs manager David Ross told reporters that he is still not 100 percent as he is still experiencing some pain while running. "He feels good hitting," Ross said. "He's taking reps in the cage, taking reps in the field for ground balls. A little timid coming in on some, the running part on some slow rollers and stuff like that. I think it still bothers him a little bit when he's having to run, and that's going to be an important part of his game." Running is an integral part of a baseball player's performance, especially for a shortstop who needs to move quickly and make agile plays. Swanson's discomfort while running can significantly impact his defensive abilities and overall gameplay. As a result, the team and Swanson himself are taking a cautious approach. While Swanson is out, the Cubs will have to rely on Nico Hoerner to take up the slack at the shortstop position. This is a test for the team, but it also provides opportunities for other players to showcase their skills and contribute to the team's success. For the season, Swanson is hitting .258 with 10 homers and 36 RBIs.
