Cubs pitcher Adrian Sampson undergoes surgery

by - Senior Editor -

Chicago Cubs pitcher Adrian Sampson underwent surgery on his right knee meniscus on Friday according to reports.

The procedure was a cleanup of the knee, which had landed Sampson on the 15-day injured list recently.

Sampson has an 0-0 record with an 8.64 ERA for the Iowa Cubs. The right-hander had made four appearances, including two starts, totaling just 8 1/3 innings pitched.

In 2022 with the big league Cubs, he had a 4-5 record with a 3.11 ERA and 1.23 WHIP.

Sampson has bounced around between the majors and minors in the years since his debut, playing for the Mariners, Texas Rangers, and now the Cubs.

He played college baseball at Bellevue College in his hometown of Bellevue, Washington.

It is unclear how long Sampson will be out following his knee surgery, but the Cubs will certainly be hoping for a speedy recovery as he is a talented pitcher when healthy.
