Cubs pitcher out until All-Star break, Nick Madrigal has MRI |
Chicago Cubs manager Craig Counsell updated a few injuries on his team on Thursday.
First, Cubs right-handed pitcher Caleb Kilian has a teres major strain and will be expected to be out until around the All-Star break. He will likely be placed on the Cubs 60-day IL to open up a slot on the 40-man roster. Cubs infielder Nick Madrigal had a MRI and the results showed a hamstring strain. "We’re going to progress him over the next week, and then we’ll have a good idea where we’re at,” Counsell said. While Madrigal is down, look for Christopher Morel and Patrick Wisdom to pick up the slack at third base. Nick Madrigal plays catch this morning while trainer Nick Frangella observes. Madrigal underwent an MRI Tuesday on his right hamstring. #Cubs
