Cubs reportedly fire Seiya Suzuki's interpreter Toy Matsushita

Tony Crumpton Tony Crumpton - Senior Editor -

According to multiple reports including The Athletic, the Chicago Cubs have dismissed Seiya Suzuki's interpreter, Toy Matsushita.

The Cubs have decided as an "organizational decision to go in a different direction" according to reports.

For the rest of the season, the Cubs will use Edwin Stanberry, who is also Shota Imanaga's interpreter.

Shohei Ohtani's interpreter going to jail earlier in the season makes it a bit bizarre that two interpreters were fired in one baseball season.

However, there is no official word on why the Cubs have moved on but decided to take a different approach. We may never know the real reason that he was dismissed.

Suzuki is hitting .270 for the season with 13 homers and 45 RBIs.
