Ramirez returns to Cubs, Patton sent down

CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs today activated right-handed pitcher Neil Ramirez off of the bereavement list. Right-handed pitcher Spencer Patton was optioned to Triple-A Iowa following yesterday’s game.

Ramirez, 26, has no record and a 4.50 ERA (3 ER/6.0 IP) in six relief appearances with the Cubs this season.

Patton, 28, allowed one run to score in his lone appearance with the Cubs yesterday. He has turned in 10 scoreless appearances covering 10.0 innings this season with Iowa, posting no record with four saves in as many chances.
