Report: Cubs are "strong in the mix" for Aroldis Chapman

Tony Crumpton Tony Crumpton - Senior Editor -

According to FoxSports.com's Ken Rosenthal, Chicago is "strong in the mix" to acquire New York Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman. Rosenthal's sources have the Giants, Dodgers, Indians, and Nationals also pursuing Chapman as well.

The lefty closer has a 2.01 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 44 strikeouts in 31 1/3 innings while converting 20 of his 21 save opportunities.

Chapman would add an interesting dynamic to the Chicago clubhouse as the Cubs especially Anthony Rizzo have had dust-ups with the reliever in the past.
