CINCINNATI — Leading off the third inning on Saturday, Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant went yard and put the Cubs up 2-0 over the Cincinnati Reds. The 410-foot solo bomb carried out to left-center field at Great American Ball Park, giving Bryant his 16th long ball of the season.
Starter Tyler Mahle got taken deep on a 92.1-mph four-seamer thrown over the heart of the plate. The high drive left the bat at 101.3 mph and 32 degrees. Bryant was frustrated after striking out looking on a pitch that he felt to be a ball in the first inning, but he made up for it by sending a pitch into the seats in his next at-bat. That's a strike. #KBoom#CubTogether pic.twitter.com/Iyu50Iocdb 10/10 would not recommend pic.twitter.com/Tq5ddJH4RO #Cubs 2 @ #Reds 0 [T3-0o]:
