WATCH: Wilson tells Rizzo to 'SHUT UP' during mound visit

by - Senior Editor -

The Cubs shouldn't be losing to the last place Reds so the North Siders were desperate to avoid a two-game losing streak to the basement dwellers.

However, they ended up losing 6-3 and there was some drama during the game.

In the seventh inning of Friday night's game, Cubs reliever Justin Wilson made an impressive diving catch on a bunt play for an out. If he had let it drop, the team would have gotten a double play because the pitcher did not run on the play.

Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo called the trainer to make sure that Wilson was OK after the hard fall. During the huddle, Wilson tells him to shut up and Rizzo immediately looks at the umpire and grins.

I am not sure why he said that and I think he was joking because Rizzo didn't take offense to the remark. Rizzo was probably commenting on his gold-glove caliber defense on the earlier play and made a funny joke.

In case you were wondering, Wilson got a ground ball for a double play to end the inning.
