Javy Baez scratched from lineup vs. Cardinals |
The Chicago Cubs will be playing on primetime tonight on ESPN but without the services of 'El Mago.'
The star shortstop Javy Baez is a late scratch from the lineup with a thumb injury. Baez likely banged the thumb on a diving play yesterday, and Cubs manager David Ross said that he is getting treatment today. "They're treating him now, and I don't want to take any risks," Ross said. Youngster Sandy Alcantara will replace Baez at the shortstop position and bat eighth. For the season, Baez is batting .236 with 14 homers and 40 RBIs. Last thing they need right now is Javy getting injured diving into the stands over the cable which frames the netting.@Cubs #GoCubsGo pic.twitter.com/1wsz0Mlc2j
