Roster Moves: Cubs place three on injured list

by - Senior Editor -

Opening Day is finally here at last!

The Chicago Cubs announced their 26-man Opening Day roster on Thursday before their game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Notably, the team also announced three players officially on the injured list.

Veteran catcher Austine Romine has a right knee sprain, righty reliever Rowan Wick has a left oblique strain, and reliever Jonathan Holder is dealing with a right shoulder strain.

This is actually decent news as all three players were placed on the 10-day injury list, so hopefully, that means the injuries aren't too serious.

All three of these injured list moves are retroactive to March 29.

In other roster news, pitcher Tyson Miller is currently on the COVID-19 related injury list and doesn't count on the 40-man roster.

Once he returns, the Cubs will have to open up a spot for him.
