WATCH: Rafael Ortega lines two-run homer in ninth inning |
NEW YORK — The Chicago Cubs' first hit of Wednesday's game at Citi Field was a solo home run by first baseman Anthony Rizzo, and the North Siders' second hit of the tilt was a two-run jack by right fielder Rafael Ortega. Coming in the top of the ninth, the 352-foot dinger by Ortega made the score 6-3 in favor of the Mets.
Ortega's second homer of the season, the lined shot barely cleared the wall in the right field corner at Citi Field. Reliever Drew Smith gave up the dinger on a 94.8-mph four-seamer. Ortega powered the long ball out at 106.3 mph and 20 degrees. He plated third baseman Patrick Wisdom, who had just drawn a walk, and now has four RBIs to his name in 2021. 2nd home run of the year for Rafael Ortega!#CubTogether pic.twitter.com/n02ussiQJo #Cubs 3 @ #Mets 6 [T9-1o]:
