WATCH: Willson Contreras, Patrick Wisdom foil Chris Taylor's steal attempt |
LOS ANGELES — Trying to steal a base with Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras behind the plate is not exactly a great idea, and Los Angeles Dodgers center fielder Chris Taylor found that out the hard way on Saturday. Taylor attempted to steal third base in the bottom of the second at Dodger Stadium and was gunned down.
Contreras fired a bullet to third baseman Patrick Wisdom, who swiped Taylor with his glove as Taylor attempted to elude the tag on his headfirst slide. Taylor led off the half-inning with a double, and his failed steal marked the second out. Contreras' seventh caught stealing of the season helped prevent the Dodgers from adding to their 2-0 lead.
