WATCH: Willson Contreras picks off Chris Taylor at third base |
LOS ANGELES — Just two innings after getting gunned down attempting to steal third base, Los Angeles Dodgers center fielder Chris Taylor once again tested the right arm of Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras and paid the price. Contreras picked Taylor off at third base in the bottom of the fourth on Saturday and was fired up after the fact.
Third baseman Patrick Wisdom, who also tagged Taylor out on the aforementioned steal attempt, applied the tag on Taylor, who was unable to dive back to the bag in time. The pickoff at Dodger Stadium occurred with the Dodgers leading 2-1 with runners on the corners and one out, and the Dodgers ultimately failed to add to their lead in the inning, thanks in large part to Contreras.
