WATCH: Willson Contreras smacks rainmaker out onto Waveland Avenue |
CHICAGO — With his third home run of the season, Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras led off the bottom of the fifth on Friday by powering a dinger out of Wrigley Field and onto Waveland Avenue. The moonshot came off Braves starter Kyle Wright, who hit Contreras with a pitch earlier in the game.
The round-tripper came on an 88.1-mph four-seamer. Contreras got underneath it and drove it out to left field. The solo long ball, which marked the first homer given up by Wright on the season, trimmed the Cubs' deficit to 4-2. Willy hits back.@BinnysBev pic.twitter.com/e7v3lTKUEu #Braves 4 @ #Cubs 2 [B5-0o]:
