Bears trade Chase Claypool to Dolphins |
The Chase Claypool experiment is finally over.
The Chicago Bears have traded receiver Chase Claypool to the Miami Dolphins on Friday, pending a physical. The Bears will receive a 2025 sixth-rounder from Miami, and the Bears will give them a 2025 seventh-rounder. In addition to the pick swap, the Bears will save around $2 million of cap space. Claypool had been a disappointment, to say the least, since the Bears traded for him (32nd overall pick) last season. He has only three catches on 14 targets for 51 yards and a touchdown this season. Bears general manager Ryan Poles wished Claypool luck on Thursday. "I think Chase is going to learn from this situation, we all will, and I wish him luck moving forward throughout his career," he said. The #Bears are trading WR Chase Claypool to the #Dolphins, sources tell me and @TomPelissero. This ends a prolonged drama and gives Claypool a fresh start. They have tried to trade him since last week after he was a healthy scratch. Now, everyone moves on. pic.twitter.com/RKJHrllA1T
Obviously not the resolution anyone expected/wanted when they traded for him last year but it’ll be a little extra they can sock away & roll into next year’s cap.
