Cubs News: Justin Fields playing update |
ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that Justin Fields is not expected to play against the New York Jets on Sunday.
"Justin Fields, listed as questionable for Sunday due to his separated shoulder, is not expected to play vs. the Jets, per sources," Schefter posted on social media. "Bears are expected to start QB Trevor Siemian, and the team also promoted Nathan Peterman from the practice squad Saturday to serve as the backup QB." NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is also saying it is a long shot that Fields plays today. The #Bears plan to give QB Justin Fields an opportunity to warm up prior to Sunday’s game, but he’s considered a long shot to face the #Jets, per me & @MikeGarafolo. Fields (left shoulder) was limited all week. Coach Matt Eberflus said Fields would only play if he’s 100% ready. Fields has passed for 1,642 yards with 13 touchdowns and eight passing touchdowns with a QBR of 54.8. He also 122 rushes for 834 yards and seven scores. Currently, the Jets are -4.5 point favorites over the Bears for Sunday's game at noon CT (FOX) at MetLife Stadium. Update: Bears’ QB Justin Fields officially is out today vs. the Jets.
