Commentary: Anthony Rizzo is not an All-Star and that's OK

Anthony Rizzo made the all-star game in three consecutive seasons from 2014-2016 and has also earned a pair of gold gloves, a silver slugger award and a World Series ring in his nine years of professional baseball so far. Full Story »

This really shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone thought he was going to make the All Star team let alone start. 1st base in the national league has been absolutely loaded this year and with Josh bell and Pete Alonzo having the years that they have had rizzo really had no chance to make the All Star team unless injuries to those 2 players would have occurred. That doesn't mean hes having a badd season because hes having one of his best 1st half's ever in terms of numbers but voting got it right and the ones who should be in the All Star game are there this is the 1st time that I can remember that everybody on the All Star team deserves to be on the All Star team and you can make a case for Josh bell Freddie Freeman or Pete Alonzo to start because you can't go wrong with either 1 of them

I know that but so many people are just complaining that he is not in the All Star game. I get that fans vote for who they want in the All Star game so the more Cub fans that vote the better chances he has to make it but you have to sit back and look at the numbers and even if you are a cubs fan does he deserve to be there over the other 3

The man is one of the best fielding first basemen I have ever seen. Makes unbelievable plays, digging the ball out of the dirt, or doing the splits to keep someone from having a throwing error, and makes it look like an easy out.

Rizzo is probably competitive enough to take this the right way. I have on good info he appreciates cubshq since that podcast with his dad!
