Long term, Epstein needs to improve the Cubs minor league system. Either the Cubs aren't drafting the right players or they're not developing them properly. Short term, he has to stop falling in love with his Major League roster and not be afraid to trade from it.

Maybe its time for Theo to go. The farm system is decimated, the budget is maxed, the bullpen is awful, the starting pitchers are rapidly aging, the offense has an inability to match up consistently to quality pitching, the players each year appear overplayed and get the injuries to prove it.

Yes, its a talented bunch, but this team is a mess. We have more than a simple managerial issue. No fresh face is going to come in and get more production.
