Hmmm, well, my trusty calculator says that $330M /13=$25,384,615.38461538 per year. Compare that to Machado's that's $300/10=30M per year AND he's out 3 years before Harper, more if he exercises the opt out after 5.
In total $'s Harper's deal wins the day, especially if he gets the same or similar opt out option in it. If not, I'm thinking Manny's better off.
So is Harper's really the richest? Idk...

It's purely based on the dollar amount on the contract but I agree that Machado's contract would be the preferable one if it was for me because of its flexibility and possible 2nd FA contract.

Turns out it's the 14th richest contract, after accounting for inflation. The list I saw had Verlander signing for $27.7M per year (didn't list how many years)
Boros was quoted as saying that his orders were to secure a long term contract for the most $$ & years, as Harper wants this to be his 1 & done.
That being the case, he failed Harper miserably, IMHO.
I'd have proposed (if I was Boros) $33 /10/mutual opt out-buy out after year 5 or 6.
I think Harper will regret this deal eventually.

I saw a debate on Twitter about Harper/Machado and whose contract was worth more. There's only one answer- Harper's. No matter how you slice it, $330M is always going to be $30M more than $300M. In terms of AAV, Machado is making more per year with less years to serve, but he's still making $30M less than Harper.

LOL, with all of the tickets and "HARPER #3" jerseys that they are selling, maybe they can keep the beer price at no more than $17.50.

A lot of people claim that player salaries are responsible for the beer and alcohol prices, but I think at least part of it has to do with MLB and the teams not wanting to be responsible for DUI's and accidents.

I'm sure that too, but just like a bar, I'm sure the team/stadium could be held liable for over-serving if the right lawyer got a hold of it.

I park in East Chicago, and take the Southshore train to Randolph, and get on the Redline at State. All the beer is out of my system by the time I get back to my car, after the game. If it is an exciting game?....I drink a little bit more, but get a Hotel room afterwards. I do not drink and drive. I made a vow to God not to. Have lived by that vow since 2000. I'm an ex Marine, but don't drink that much anymore. I sort of even lost my taste fer Beer unless I'm at the Ballpark.
