Cubs reportedly sign outfielder to minor league contract

by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Cubs have signed outfielder Noel Cuevas to a minor league contract on Monday, according to MLB insider Ken Rosenthal.

Cuevas will make $575K if he makes it to the major league roster.

This is a move to bolster the outfield depth in the Cubs minor league system, and he will get an invite to spring training to try to impress the team.

He currently is playing in the Mexican Winter League, where he is tearing the cover off the baseball with a .371 average in 28 games.

Last season, he was in the minors with the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes (Rockies' affiliate), where he batted .278 with five homers and 33 RBI.

In 2018, he had significant action in the majors with the Rockies playing in 75 games batting .233 (34-for-146) with two homers and 10 RBI.

The Los Angeles Dodgers drafted him in round 21 of the 2010 Draft.
