The Professor just got paid.

Cubs starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks has agreed to a one-year guaranteed deal worth $7.405 million with the Cubs which is only $200K below his MLBTR projection.

The move was made to avoid arbitration for both sides and today at 12 p.m. CT was the deadline for new salaries for arbitration-eligible players including Cubs players Javier Baez, Kris Bryant, C.J. Edwards, Mike Montgomery, Kyle Schwarber, and Addison Russell.

Hendricks made $4.175 million last season, and 2020 will be his last team-controlled year as he will hit free agency in 2021.

The 29-year old was 14-11 in 199 innings (33 starts) with a 3.44 ERA, 161 strikeouts, and 1.15 WHIP last season.

For his career, he has gone an impressive 52-33 with a sparkling 3.07 ERA with 668 strikeouts and 1.11 WHIP.
