Kyle Schwarber releases heartfelt statement to Cubs fans

The Chicago Cubs had to make some tough decisions on Wednesday night as they non-tendered several players including slugging outfielder Kyle Schwarber.

Schwarber has been a fan favorite in Chicago since he came back from an ACL injury to help the ballclub break the curse and bring a title to the Cubs after a 108-year drought.

Schwarber is now a free agent, but that didn't stop him from saying thank you to the fans that have supported him during his time at Wrigley.

"Chicago...From being drafted, to playoffs 5 out of 6 years, to be a World Series champion! I want to thank all the fans for the overwhelming support these past 7 years of being in the organization," Schwarber posted on social media. "It never got old running out to left and being able to give you guys a salute. It really is different at Wrigley. It was an absolute pleasure to go out there every day and grind with the fellas for you guys, and I'm grateful for my teammates, coaches, staff, and the fans. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart! Until we meet again."

As a writer, it was an honor to cover Schwarber during the last six years as he always was a class act to everyone. Best wishes!
