Report: Cubs to add hot-hitting prospect for doubleheader |
The Chicago Cubs are expected to call up hot-hitting prospect Jeimer Candelario on Tuesday according to multiple reports.
The hot-hitting prospect will be called up as part of the special rule that teams can have a 26th man for a doubleheader as the Cubs and Rockies will play two games starting at 1:10 p.m. CDT. Candelario is batting .333 (27-for-81) in 24 games for Iowa this season. He has 18 extra-base hits in his first 81 at-bats (12 doubles, two triples, and four home runs) and has driven in 21 runs while scoring 17 times. Candelario has a 1.122 OPS thanks to a .443 on-base percentage and a .679 slugging percentage. He has played 19 games at third base and six at first base. In 682 career minor league games, he has batted .272 (686-for-2,520) with 180 doubles, 18 triples, 60 homers and 382 RBI. We can expect a Jeimer Candelario sighting with the Cubs.
