WATCH: Former Cubs pitcher throws temper tantrum in South Korean game

by - Senior Writer -

Pitcher Eddie Butler had a fairly uneventful tenure with the Chicago Cubs that consisted of 11 starts in 2017 and a brief bullpen stint in 2018. Butler was initially traded to the Cubs by the Colorado Rockies prior to the start of the 2017 slate and went 4-3 with a 3.95 ERA that year. Early on in the 2018 season, Butler, who was moved to the bullpen, was placed on the 60-day disabled list and was eventually traded to the Texas Rangers as part of the package that landed the Cubs veteran starting pitcher Cole Hamels.

Nowadays, Butler is trying his luck at pitching in the KBO League in South Korea, but if he makes a habit out of acting like he did in a game on Thursday, his tenure in that league will be rather uneventful, too. A starter for the NC Dinos, Butler grew frustrated with himself during the Dinos' latest contest and opted to blow off some steam by acting like a petulant child on the mound.

After throwing a pitch on a full count that was well outside, Butler tossed his glove over his shoulder, spun around and kicked the glove high up into air. The home-plate umpire walked out toward the mound and glared at Butler after the immature act but did not appear to say anything to him. While the acrobatic temper tantrum was quite impressive, it was also quite embarrassing and will not help Butler's cause at getting another shot in Major League Baseball.
