Cubs News: MUST-SEE: Heyward crushes 415-foot walk-off grand slam |
CHICAGO — Chicago Cubs slugger Jason Heyward has never experienced much success hitting against left-handed pitchers. Entering tonight, he had hit just one home run in the last two years against a lefty.
However, "J-Hey" defied the odds in the biggest spot imaginable, crushing a walk-off grand slam against Philadelphia Phillies lefty Adam Morgan. Marking his first career walk-off home run, the grand slam came on a 2-2 count with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to give the Cubs a 7-5 win. Hitting a 415-foot no-doubter to right-center for his third career grand slam, Heyward tallied his only hit of the game on the round-tripper. He has now hit three homers on the season.
