Cubs place Keegan Thompson on paternity list, recall reliever |
CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs today placed right-handed pitcher Keegan Thompson on the paternity list and recalled right-handed pitcher Porter Hodge.
Hodge, 23, made his debut May 22 against Atlanta and has pitched to 3.60 ERA (2 ER/5.0 IP) in six games with the Cubs this season. In 15 games between Double-A Tennessee (two games) and Triple-A Iowa (13 games), he is 1-1 with a 4.58 ERA (10 ER/19.2 IP) and 28 strikeouts. Thompson, 29, has appeared in 11 games for the Cubs this season, including two since his most recent recall June 15. He is 1-1 with one save, a 4.30 ERA (7 ER/14.2 IP) and 23 strikeouts, compared to seven walks. The Cubs host the San Francisco Giants today at 1:20 p.m. CT in a game that can be seen on Marquee Sports Network and heard on 670 the Score.
