WATCH: David Bote breaks scoreless tie with hard-hit home run |
CHICAGO – Breaking a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fifth on Friday, Chicago Cubs third baseman David Bote lined a home run out to left field. The leadoff blast put the Cubs up 1-0 over the Cincinnati Reds at Wrigley Field and marked Bote's fifth long ball of the year.
Even with the wind blowing in, Bote was able to send the hard-hit line drive into the basket atop the left field wall. Scorched off the bat at 110.3 mph, the 366-foot dinger came on a 91.6-mph four-seamer thrown by starter Vladimir Gutierrez in his MLB debut. With a launch angle of 21 degrees, the laser to left increased Bote's RBI total to 23. .@DavidBote13 finds the basket! @BinnysBev #CubTogether pic.twitter.com/N59dNiAaIY Wind blowing in, Bote going out.#CubTogether pic.twitter.com/TlthGzQwhG #Reds 0 @ #Cubs 1 [B5-0o]:
