Cubs News: Brennan Davis undergoes back surgery |
Not ideal news for the future of the Northsiders.
Chicago Cubs top prospect Brennan Davis has undergone successful back surgery Thursday in Los Angeles. According to the Chicago Tribune, "the surgery revealed a cluster of blood vessels that caused back and leg pain. The vascular malformation pushed against a nerve, not dissimilar to sciatica." The surgery found no structural damage or disc issues. Davis is expected to make a full recovery, but his return date is not clear. Tough break on the injury for Davis as he was close to being a possible big part of the Cubs in the second half of the 2022 season. The 22-year-old was hitting just .195 in 22 games this season, dealing with the nerve issue. Last season, he hit .260 with 19 homers and 53 RBIs across three levels in the minors.
