I do not agree. He should not be on this team period! Baez is a far better player and person

Besides his other stuff, I think Russell is a good defender but I haven't been impressed by him offensively in a long time. He has potential offensively though.

I'm excited about all the depth at second base with Bote, Descalso, Zobrist...The team has been rolling with these guys as of late.

I think Russell would be a good backup alongside Bote at SS and in the rotation mix at second too. That's a lot of good infield depth.

However I get where Dan is coming from, he is big on defense up the middle and thinks Russell is elite there.

I don't necessarily disagree with you regarding his status on the team, however, the Cubs are pretty solidly behind bringing him back so it was a moot point. The actual point of the story was since he is clearly going to play where should he play.
