Bulls sign two players to exhibition-10 contracts |
As we inch closer to the start of NBA training camp, teams will start looking for names to round out their camp roster. The Chicago Bulls are one of those teams and have indeed brought in a pair of players for training camp as they have signed Quenton Jackson and Max Heidegger to Exhibition -10 contracts.
Jackson may be the most familiar of the two names, as he spent his rookie season with the Washington Wizards last year. The former Texas A&M guard went undrafted in 2022 before landing on the Wizards G-League affiliate, the Capital City GO-GO. In 29 games with the GO-GO, Jackson showed plenty of potential, averaging 15.5 PPG, 4.2 APG and 1.4 SPG. He did all that while shooting better than 53% from the floor, which is the main reason why the Wizards offered him a two-way deal. The production went down once he joined the Wizards, but that shouldn't come as a surprise, given he was on a two-way deal. Despite limited minutes, Jackson still showed potential as he put up 6.2 PPG off the bench while averaging nearly 2 RPG and 2 SPG. He also shot 45.2% from the field, so the efficiency was there. Given the limited sample size, there is not a ton I can tell you about his game, but I can tell you that the man can flat-out jump. That should come in handy with how the Bulls like to play, as he will be fun to watch during the preseason. What stands out the most about Jackson is the amount of production that he had in school. Across 33 career games in College Station, Jackson scored at least 23 PPG each season, with a career-high 26.4 PPG during his final season. That comes out to 24.8 PPG for his three-year career. No one expects him to produce those numbers in the NBA, but he at least has the potential to score when called upon. Heidegger is a much more seasoned vet, but someone who has yet to have much of an opportunity since going undrafted from UC Santa Barbara in 2020. Initially a Summer League Player, Heidegger has found success playing for Saski Baskonia in the EuroLeague. Since arriving in the Euro League, Heidegger has taken his game to a new level, averaging 18.3 PPG in 2021 while following that up with 19.5 PPG in 2022. That followed a collegiate career where the 6-3 Guard averaged 16.0 PPG during his final season when he helped the Gauchos go 21-10 during his senior season. These are not significant signings and don't count against the Salary Cap. The reason for these signings is to bring players into training camp and see what they can offer to the team. If it doesn't work out, you can cut ties and let them walk for nothing, but if they show promise, the Bulls have the first opportunity to put them in the G-League to station them with the Windy City Bulls.
