Blue Jays reportedly interested in trading for Marcus Stroman |
The MLB trade deadline is always an exciting time for baseball fans and front offices alike.
As the deadline approaches, rumors and speculations about potential trades start to circulate throughout the league. One player who has found himself at the center of trade discussions is Cubs ace Marcus Stroman. Stroman, who has an opt-out clause in his contract this off-season, is set to become one of the most sought-after starting pitchers in the trade market if the Cubs decide to sell. According to a recent report by Bruce Levine of 670 The Score, the Toronto Blue Jays have expressed strong interest in Stroman. "According to MLB sources, the Blue Jays are one of the teams that have expressed strong interest in what may be a Stroman sweepstakes by the last week of July," Levine said. "Both the Cubs and Jays have done their due diligence on the strength of each other's farm systems. Stroman was drafted and promoted through the Blue Jays’ system before getting traded to the Mets during the 2019 season. He compiled a 47-45 record with Toronto and a 3.76 ERA in six seasons." Should the Cubs indeed decide to trade Stroman, they won't be short of potential suitors. Many believe he will be the top starting pitcher on the trade market, making him an attractive option for contending teams looking to bolster their pitching staff, and the Cubs should be able to a hefty haul for him.
