Cubs News: Anthony Rizzo tests positive for COVID-19 |
Not good news to report today.
Former Cubs standout first baseman Anthony Rizzo has tested positive for COVID-19, according to his manager Aaron Boone. Boone says that he has some symptoms but is doing 'alright' currently. Rizzo has been placed on the COVID-19 list by the Yankees after getting a positive test after Saturday's win. Interestingly, today is Rizzo's 32nd birthday, and he will now be out of the lineup for a while, as he will miss the Field of Dreams game on Thursday and the series in Chicago next weekend. In nine games with the Yankees, he batted .281 with three homers and an RBI in each of the first six games. In June, Rizzo told reporters from the Cubs that he was unvaccinated because he was still taking time to see all of the data on the vaccines. No word yet if Rizzo has been vaccinated or not officially. This is the 12th Yankees player to go on the COVID-19 list this season.
