Cubs News: Report: Jameson Taillon getting trade interest from multiple teams

by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Cubs have had a disappointing 2024 season to date, but their pitching rotation has been solid.

One of the key pitchers in the Cubs starting rotation is veteran Jameson Taillon who has put things together this season with a 7-4 record with a 3.10 ERA in 16 starts.

That type of production has teams salivating about adding Taillon to their squads for the stretch run.

USA Today's Bob Nightengale is reporting that two teams have called about Taillon in trade talks.

"The Boston Red Sox and Yankees have had talks with the Chicago Cubs about starter Jameson Taillon, but the Cubs are undecided whether they will be buyers or sellers," Nightengale said.

Taillon has two years left on his current deal with the Cubs and owed $18 million per season.

The trade deadline is only nine days away, as the Cubs are in last place in the National League Central division. However, they are only 4.5 games back in the wild-card race.

It should be interesting to see what Jed Hoyer decides to do in the next week or so as players could be shipped out or he could sit on his hands and see how the current roster finishes up in 2024.
