Cubs News: Seiya Suzuki injury update |
On Tuesday, Chicago Cubs manager Craig Counsell gave an update on standout slugger Seiya Suzuki's right oblique injury, which landed him on the injured list.
Counsell said that the injury revealed a moderate strain, and he is expected to miss "in the four-week range". The team will know more about the timeline as he progresses. “Look, when you lose players like that, you don’t replace players like that,” Craig Counsell told reporters recently. “While he’s out, guys hopefully pick it up around him and collectively perform at a good level around him. But you can’t replace players that are performing at that level with one person.” This is a tough blow for the Cubs because Suzuki was playing at an All-Star level before he went down. He is hitting .305 (18-for-59) in 15 games with three home runs and 13 RBI for the Cubs this season. “Just in that last at-bat, when I was running, there was some sudden discomfort that I felt.”
