WATCH: Justin Steele leaves game with knee injury |
This is not good news.
Chicago Cubs ace Justin Steele left the game after getting hit in the leg in the second inning of Friday's game against the San Francisco Giants. Steele was trying to field the baseball and was hit on his left knee and fell over. The trainer came off and helped him walk off gingerly to the locker room. There is no word yet if this was just for precautions or if there is more of a serious injury. Steele is scheduled to start on Opening Day, as this was his last Cactus League appearance. The Cubs have already been dealing with some injuries on their pitching staff as Caleb Kilian and Jameson Taillon are each expected to begin the season on the IL. Update: The Cubs announced that Steele left the game with a left knee contusion. He posted on X that he was OK injury-wise.
