CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs today agreed to terms on a one-year major league contract with outfielder Clint Frazier. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Frazier, 27, owns a .239 batting average (169-for-707) with 41 doubles, five triples, 29 home runs and 97 RBI in 228 career games with the New York Yankees from 2017-21. He owns a career .951 OPS and a .269 average (42-for-156) with runners in scoring position. Frazier has predominantly seen time in right field (104 games, 90 starts) and left field (101 games, 85 starts) and all told has a .976 fielding percentage (7 E/295 TC) in the outfield.

The right-handed hitting Frazier set career marks with 12 home runs and 38 RBI in 246 plate appearances spanning 69 games for the Yankees in 2019 in his age 24 season. In the abbreviated 2020 season, he hit .267 (35-for-131) with a .394 on-base percentage, eight home runs and 26 RBI in 39 games then batted .286 (2-for-7) with a home run and RBI in four postseason games.

Frazier last season made his second-straight Opening Day roster with the Yankees and batted .186 (34-for-183) with 20 runs, nine doubles, five home runs, 15 RBI and 32 walks in 66 games, reaching safely in 43 contests. He missed half of the campaign after he landed on the 10-day injured list, July 2, with vertigo.

Originally selected by Cleveland in the first round (fifth overall) of the 2013 Draft out of Loganville (Ga.) High School, Frazier was acquired by the Yankees at the 2016 trade deadline with pitchers J.P. Feyereisen, Ben Heller and Justus Sheffield for pitcher Andrew Miller.
