Carlos Correa signs with Twins |
A shocker in free agency.
The Minnesota Twins have signed star shortstop Carlos Correa to a three-year deal worth $105 million, according to multiple reports. The agreement includes two opts-outs after 2023 and 2024. The average annual value of $35.1 million is second in MLB history behind Mike Trout's $36 million. Many teams were on the hunt for Correa, with the Cubs, Yankees, Tigers, Dodgers, Red Sox, and others missing out. It is possibly a missed opportunity for the Cubs, but they will head to Opening Day with Nico Hoerner and Jonathan Villar at the all-important shortstop position. The Twins were able to free up enough money for Correa from trading away veteran infielder Josh Donaldson to the Yankees.
