WATCH: Anthony Rizzo launches first-inning home run for third consecutive game |
CHICAGO — Anthony Rizzo's streak of going yard in the bottom of the first was extended to three games on Tuesday. The Chicago Cubs first baseman belted a two-run jack out to right field off Cincinnati Reds starter Vladimir Gutierrez. A game-tying blast, the dinger plated center fielder Rafael Ortega and made the score 2-2.
Ortega led off the home half of the opening frame with a double to the wall in right field, and Rizzo skied his 14th long ball of the year two at-bats later. The homer was powered out of Wrigley Field at 106.4 mph and 21 degrees, with Rizzo making perfect contact on a 94.8-mph four-seamer.
