WATCH: Kris Bryant powers out 409-foot blast in first inning |
PITTSBURGH – The Chicago Cubs wasted little time in taking the lead on Thursday, as first baseman Kris Bryant smoked a 409-foot home run out to straightaway center field in just the second plate appearance of the game. The dinger at PNC Park provided the North Siders with a 1-0 lead over the Pittsburgh Pirates in the top of the first.
Bryant's 11th long ball of the season, the bomb came on an 81.6-mph changeup thrown by starter Tyler Anderson, a pitcher Bryant has experienced plenty of success batting against in his career. Sporting a launch angle of 37 degrees, the towering blast left the bat at 100.3 mph. Bryant now has 31 RBIs on the year.
