Roster Move: Cubs activate infielder Eric Sogard |
PHOENIX – The Chicago Cubs today activated infielder Eric Sogard off the 10-day injured list.
Sogard, 35, was placed on the 10-day injured list, July 6, with a left thumb contusion. The left-handed hitting Sogard has batted .250 (40-for-160) with five doubles, one triple, one home runs and 11 RBI in 73 games for Chicago after he signed a minor league contract with the club in March of this year. Sogard has played 41 games (31 starts) at second base, 10 games (three starts) at third base, four games (three starts) at shortstop, one game at first base and five relief appearances on the mound for Chicago this season. In all or part of 11 seasons with Oakland (2010-15), Milwaukee (2017-18, 2020), Toronto (2019), Tampa Bay (2019) and Chicago, Sogard has hit .247 (549-for-2,227) with 103 doubles, 11 triples, 26 home runs and 186 in 810 major league games.
