WATCH: Young Cubs fan gets Baez signed ball after fan steals his |
Sometimes a wrong is made right.
On a foul ball hit on the first-base side during Sunday's contest against the Cardinals, Cubs first-base coach Will Venable picked up the baseball and tossed it to to a young boy sitting in the front row with his mother. However, the ball got away from them and fell behind their seats, where a heartless man took the souvenir and gave up to what one could reasonably assume to be his girlfriend or wife. Girlfriend: If you don’t get me a ball at the #Cubs game today we’re through! I don’t care if you have to steal it from a little kid However, the Cubs knew about the situation because of social media and came to the rescue with a signed ball from Javier Baez. Great job guys! Update: It is being reported by Cubs insider David Kaplan that the guy actually helped the kid get a ball earlier in the game. "I spoke with people from the Cubs. The man who grabbed the ball on the widely seen video had actually already helped the little boy get a ball earlier. The young man has a game-used ball and a Javy Baez ball. All is well. Guy is A-OK so let it go people." A @javy23baez signed ball should take care of it. #EverybodyIn pic.twitter.com/4YzUlG8qfN
