Carlos Correa signs $350 million deal with Giants |
The top free agent is now off the market.
Star shortstop Carlos Correa has signed a 13-year, $350 million blockbuster deal with the San Francisco Giants. The deal was the longest free agent deal in history and the fourth-largest dollar figure in baseball history, including the highest ever for a shortstop. In 2022, he hit .291 with 22 home runs and 64 RBIs in 136 games. Over his eight seasons, he has nearly 30 rWar, which is only behind Mike Trout, Mookie Betts, Nolan Arenado, Paul Goldschmidt, and Manny Machado. The Cubs will now look at possibly putting in their chips for SS Dansby Swanson, whose wife plays pro soccer in Chicago. The teams with reported interest in him include the Cubs, Dodgers, Cardinals and Red Sox.
