Cubs lineup vs. Padres, Schwarber out

by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Cubs (35-34) will battle the San Diego Padres at 7:05 p.m. CDT on Tuesday night at Wrigley Field televised on CSN Chicago.

Righty Mike Montgomery will take the mound for the defending World Champions. In 2017, he has been a tough luck pitcher with 0-3 record with a sparkling 2.65 ERA and 35 strikeouts. He is subbing in for Kyle Hendricks that is still out with right hand tendinitis.

The Cubs starters have finally gotten on a roll this season with a 3.15 ERA in their last six games.

One lineup note is that first baseman Anthony Rizzo will leadoff again after being a spark plug for the last six games. He drilled his 150 career homer run during Sunday's contest.

In injury news, Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward is out of the starting lineup with his hand abrasion, outfielder Ben Zobrist is out with his wrist injury, and Schwarber is out nursing an ankle injury he suffered during Monday's game.

The Cubs are currently still in second place in the National League Central (1.5 GB) behind the Milwaukee Brewers.
