Cubs News: Comcast/Xfinity and Marquee reportedly to announce deal |
It's finally happening maybe!
Comcast/Xfinity will announce a deal between Marquee Sports Network and Comcast on Friday morning according to a report by Al Yellon of BleedCubbieBlue. "I trust my source and believe there will be an announcement Friday, just in time for the Cubs’ season opener against the Brewers at 6:10 p.m. CT," Yellon wrote. "Some of you have noted that this game will be on ESPN, but the ESPN broadcast will be blacked out in the Cubs market territory." Let's hope this report is true because Cubs fans in Chicago deserve to be able to watch their beloved team. Comcast is massive in the Chicago area with over 50 percent of the metro area. No word yet if YouTube TV, Dish Network, or others will make any type of announcement anytime soon. Jed Hoyer just said on Kap and Co. on @espn1000 Cubs business executives have told him they expect all of the market to be able to watch Cubs baseball on Opening Day. "I'm not breaking news here but we fully expect everyone will be able to watch our games starting Opening Day."
