The USA women's soccer team defeated Brazil 1-0 on Saturday afternoon to win the gold medal in the 2024 Olympics.

The winning goal was by Mallory Swanson, who is married to Cubs shortstop Dansby Swanson.

Swanson was asked about watching his wife win a gold medal for Team USA, which had a 12-year drought in the Olympics in soccer.

"So happy for her," Swanson said. "It's hard to really even put into words just how happy I am for her and that she's able to enjoy this moment."

Swanson was asked how he felt watching the games on television.

"A lot of stress," Swanson said. "It was definitely a memory and a moment that I'll never forget. (I'm) so thankful for her parents being able to be there, her best friends, and all the people in her tight circle being able to be there and just support her. The people who have reached out is just a testament to how amazing of a woman she is and what an incredible, incredible accomplishment it's been."

Mallory plays in Chicago with the Red Stars as she signed a five-year deal worth $2 million this past offseason.
